Most Sophisticated Styles of 2013

These are a few of my favorite looks from the past 12 months. As you can see they consists of single sole sandals, a plethora of cheetah print, a few pencil skirts, lipstick and a lot of Deb

More than likely, all things that will be featured in many of my 2014 looks as well.

A La Jenny From the Block

Jacket: c/o Deb/ Studded Tee: c/o Deb/ Skirt: c/o Deb/ Booties: c/o Deb/ Hat: Borrowed from Grandpa

Truth be told this look reminded me of something Jennifer Lopez would have worn in her Jenny from the Block days...and I love it!

Though normally I would not style an outfit with multiple trends, I could not resist. Lace, leather and booties are all some the biggest trends of the season, and thanks to Deb I'm outfitted with them all.

I decided to try something a little different by pairing this lace pencil skirt with a slouchy tee and varsity jacket. I made a surprise visit to my grandparents house this weekend and when I saw my grandpa's leather hat, knew it would be the perfect thing to polish off this look. I've been drooling over these Steve Madden booties for the longest time, so when I found this similar pair on the deb website I knew that I had to have them.

Thoughts on this look?

Love In The Equation

Shirt: c/o deb (similar) - Skirt: The Limited (similar) - Heels: c/o deb - Clutch: Victoria Secret via  Goodwill- Bracelet: Rue21 - Lipstick: MAC Hang Up
Although I often like to think that there are some trends I have outgrown, screen print tees being one of them, I proved even myself wrong on this day. By pairing this Love t-shirt with my red pencil skirt and matching single sole red heels, it gave it more of a mature and classy appeal.

Yes, t-shirts can be classy.

If you have zillions of t-shirts and don't know how to wear them other than with jeans and sneakers, this is one equation for an outfit you will love.

A T-shirt + Skirt + Heels = cute, classy, chic outfit

On the other end of the spectrum if you have an expansive selection of work attire-- slacks and skirts-- but know clothes for your downtime, investing in a few fun and affordable t-shirts is a great way to bring new life to your work clothes. It's also a quick way to go from work to cocktail hour or date night in just a matter of minutes.

Editor's Pick: The Pencil Skirt

The one thing every woman should have in her closet is a killer pencil skirt.

Today, my pencil skirt served its purpose, helping me nail my speech to incoming freshmen. This also happened to be one of my first duties as EIC of my school newspaper!

Besides the fact that I wanted to wear my school colors, I had no idea what to wear!

Blouse: H&M - $14.99
Pencil Skirt: The Limited- $34.99 (Sale)
Shoes: Rugged Wearhouse- $12.99

After I spent all day searching for something to wear, I returned home discouraged and with only this shirt from H&M that I wasn't all that thrilled about. But, after some concentrated efforts I came up with this little number. Cute, simple, but still professional.
