Maybe this is a symptom of my youth, but here lately I've been waking up excited for the new adventure that comes with each and every day. Though at times the uncertainty of what's to come can be unsettling, I'm learning to enjoy the process of figuring out my future. On this particular Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a break from thinking about the future and snap some photos in this beautiful retro look sent to me from the online women's retailer, eShakti. 

I'm a huge fan of classic silhouettes and 50s glamour inspired pieces, so I'm not sure how I hadn't learned of this online jewel sooner. I ordered this matching crop top and pleated skirt set in a Small, but as a pear shape (smaller bust, fuller hips)I ran into my usual problem of the top being too large and the bottom fitting perfectly. I had the top taken in just slightly, but this cotton set is so darling that I can't complain about having to get extra alterations. I paired with the look my cork Ralph Lauren sandals I got for my birthday and my MAC lipstick in Sin. 

Hands down this is one of my favorite blog looks to date.

Fall Crops

This past summer, one of my favorite trends was the crop top. I thought I was going to have to say bye bye to this belly baring trend for the fall, but looks like I was wrong after all. I came across this wine colored long sleeve crop top on the deb site and got super excited. I'm always cold so a long sleeved crop top is perfect for me. I styled it with a curve enhancing tribal skirt, leather vest and burgundy colored pumps from deb. The pumps are so cute and are going to give my cheetah pumps a run for their money in terms of being my fave. 

I thought this look would be cute for a fall concert, date night, or drinks with friends. There are quite a few concerts rolling through North Carolina in the next few months (Drake, Justin Timberlake, and Erkayh Badu), so maybe I'll get to wear it to one soon!

Yesterday, I was the girl in the red skirt as I joined my family in an impromptu outing to the movies. During the summer I pretty much live in skirts and dresses which is why I was so excited about this bright red skirt I found at a new thrift store in my hometown. I'm almost certain that this skirt will be one of my go to pieces in the next few months. The whole time I had it on yesterday, I felt like a matador getting ready to take part in the Running of the Bulls.

 Though I never did see a bull, I did see 42, the biographic film about Jackie Robinson. When I was in the 2nd grade, I did a project on Jackie Robinson and had to read a book about him. The film however, introduced me to his wife, Rachel Robinson. If Mrs. Robinson sense of style was anything like the way it was depicted in the film, she was most definitely a VERY stylish woman. I read in an article that she and Jackie waited five years before they got married 1) because Mrs. Robinson wanted to obtain her degree before marrying and 2) she wanted Jackie to have a job....just two more reasons I have a new found admiration for her.
