Fall Beauty Haul: Mary Kay Edition

I was recently approached by one of my mother's friends and asked to do a review of some Mary Kay products. Typically the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Mary Kay are old ladies and pink Cadillacs, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to give some of the products a try. Let me just say, that I am glad that I did!

Keeping in mind what I learned at the Saks Fifth Avenue Beauty Blogger Event I selected shades that would let me pull off the chocolate brown trend of the season.

This mineral eyeshadow has a shimmer finish and is quite frankly, gorgeous. It can easily be worn by itself or paired with a gold shadow for some fun blending.
$7

All fall I've been looking for the perfect cheek color and  I think I finally found it in the Mary Kay Dark Cherry mineral blush! It's long lasting and with just one twirl of my makeup brush, I have enough color on my cheeks to look nice and perky.
$12

Even though it's called Midnight Red, this lipstick is the perfect daytime shade of red. It's not overpowering or distracting, which I love. In the past I've struggled with finding a hue of red lipstick that compliments my complexion but because of the brown undertones in this one, my search is over! My mom liked it so much that she's ordering her own tube as well. It has a creamy finish and I only had to reapply it once the entire day.
$15

I have forever been a sucker for MAC lipglosses, but after trying this MaryKay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss, I have to admit that it's just as good, if not a better product. Typically with MAC glosses I have to blot my lips with a paper towel to reduce some of the excess shine....not with this one. The applicator coats your lips with just the right amount of gloss so that it doesn't look like you've been playing in a jar of Vaseline. The Rich Spice color is also a great shade for everyday wear and it doesn't need to be reapplied very often.
$14

This was my finished Mary Kay face, complete with Truffle on my eyes, Dark Cherry on my cheeks and Midnight Red on my lips. I love that this face is natural and polished and that with a bit of a heavier application could be transformed into a night face. Also, while I'll probably never be able to shake the Pink Cadillac connection, gone is my misconception that Mary Kay is only for older women! Plus, on a college student's budget you can't beat the affordable prices on its makeup that ranges from $7 - $20. To order your Mary Kay products, check out Beauty Consultant Christi Shropshire here.
