The College Girl

Jacket: c/o deb/ Dress: H&M (old) / Tights: Gap/ Boots: c/o deb/ Purse: c/o deb

Sometimes I think an outfit is not blog worthy if it doesn't include a pair of heels and lipstick. But in reality as a college student I don't walk around in heels everyday (as much as I would love to!) and I certainly don't put on a full face of makeup, or lipstick on a daily basis. If you were to see me Monday- Thursday ( I don't have Friday classes this semester!) this is what I would probably look like.

Ever since deb sent this camo jacket my way I have practically lived in it. On this particular day I wanted to style it different than with jeans and t-shirts so I threw it on, on top of my mustard sweater dress from H&M and the result was love. Perfect for a cool fall day of classes.

Casual Glam

Jacket: c/o deb / Shirt: Express (old) / Jeans: c/o deb/ Shoes: c/o deb/ Necklace: c/o deb/ Clutch: Victoria Secret

I'm all about being classic and feminine, without being too stuffy. While the top half of my outfit could have easily read "I'm ready for high tea," the jeans and cheetah print pumps balanced it out and made the look more modern. This look is an example of what I like to call, Casual Glam. It has elements of glamour to it, but is also still very casual. I wore a variation of this outfit to dinner and a movie recently (replaced the sparkly blouse with a grey tee + nixed the jacket) and it was just as cute. Do you think my Casual Glam look is practical?

Fall Beauty Haul: Mary Kay Edition

I was recently approached by one of my mother's friends and asked to do a review of some Mary Kay products. Typically the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Mary Kay are old ladies and pink Cadillacs, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to give some of the products a try. Let me just say, that I am glad that I did!

Keeping in mind what I learned at the Saks Fifth Avenue Beauty Blogger Event I selected shades that would let me pull off the chocolate brown trend of the season.

This mineral eyeshadow has a shimmer finish and is quite frankly, gorgeous. It can easily be worn by itself or paired with a gold shadow for some fun blending.
$7

All fall I've been looking for the perfect cheek color and  I think I finally found it in the Mary Kay Dark Cherry mineral blush! It's long lasting and with just one twirl of my makeup brush, I have enough color on my cheeks to look nice and perky.
$12

Even though it's called Midnight Red, this lipstick is the perfect daytime shade of red. It's not overpowering or distracting, which I love. In the past I've struggled with finding a hue of red lipstick that compliments my complexion but because of the brown undertones in this one, my search is over! My mom liked it so much that she's ordering her own tube as well. It has a creamy finish and I only had to reapply it once the entire day.
$15

I have forever been a sucker for MAC lipglosses, but after trying this MaryKay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss, I have to admit that it's just as good, if not a better product. Typically with MAC glosses I have to blot my lips with a paper towel to reduce some of the excess shine....not with this one. The applicator coats your lips with just the right amount of gloss so that it doesn't look like you've been playing in a jar of Vaseline. The Rich Spice color is also a great shade for everyday wear and it doesn't need to be reapplied very often.
$14

This was my finished Mary Kay face, complete with Truffle on my eyes, Dark Cherry on my cheeks and Midnight Red on my lips. I love that this face is natural and polished and that with a bit of a heavier application could be transformed into a night face. Also, while I'll probably never be able to shake the Pink Cadillac connection, gone is my misconception that Mary Kay is only for older women! Plus, on a college student's budget you can't beat the affordable prices on its makeup that ranges from $7 - $20. To order your Mary Kay products, check out Beauty Consultant Christi Shropshire here. She's a real sweetheart and will be more than happy to help you with selecting your beauty needs!

p.s. Thanks so much Mrs. Shropshire for all of my Mary Kay goodies!

Fall Crops

Vest: c/o  deb/ Top: c/o deb / Skirt:c/o deb/ Shoes: c/o deb / Bracelets: c/o deb/ Necklace: Wet Seal

This past summer, one of my favorite trends was the crop top. I thought I was going to have to say bye bye to this belly baring trend for the fall, but looks like I was wrong after all. I came across this wine colored long sleeve crop top on the deb site and got super excited. I'm always cold so a long sleeved crop top is perfect for me. I styled it with a curve enhancing tribal skirt, leather vest and burgundy colored pumps from deb. The pumps are so cute and are going to give my cheetah pumps a run for their money in terms of being my fave.

I thought this look would be cute for a fall concert, date night, or drinks with friends. There are quite a few concerts rolling through North Carolina in the next few months (Drake, Justin Timberlake, and Erkayh Badu), so maybe I'll get to wear it to one soon!

Leather x Cheetah

Jacket: c/o - Deb / Shirt: c/o -Deb / Jeans: Gap/ Shoes: c/o - Deb/ Purse: c/o Deb /

I've worn these heels so many times in the past two weeks, its a little insane. Any time I deviate away from my typical ultra feminine style, I like to hedge back into my comfort zone with a heel or some other girly element. For this look it was my cheetah print heels. Like I said before, cheetah print is a staple wardrobe piece (for me at least).

For those of you who haven't noticed both leather and military inspired pieces are going to be big for the fall. Here I've paired my fab red leather tank with a sheer cheetah print back with boyfriend jeans from Gap and a army themed moto jacket courtesy of deb. Loved this look!

All Black Everything

Sweater: Target/ Pants: c/o Deb / Shoes: c/o Deb/ Bag: c/o Deb/ Necklace: Wet Seal/ Bracelets: Wet Seal
I pulled a  Kimye this weekend and styled an All Black Everything look. The central piece of the outfit were these tuxedo pants from Deb that I am absolutely obsessed with. They're comfy, stretchy and stylish. They can be worn with flats, pumps or boots and can easily be dressed up or down. In the spirit of less is more, I dressed mine up, slightly, with this black crew neck sweater from Target. Cheetah is a staple in my wardrobe so I threw on my cheetah print pumps and new favorite bag, that is currently doubling as my book bag! The finishing touches on the look were my cranberry lips (Hang Up by Mac) and jewelry.

So, what do you think?
