Sunset on Summer

Shirt- C/O: Deb / Skirt- C/O: Deb/ Necklaces- C/O: Deb/ Shoes: Target

Summer in North Carolina is quickly coming to an end, so I've been trying to squeeze in some of my favorite summer staples before I have to pack them away and make room in my closet for sweaters and boots. One summer look that I'm not quite ready to say bye-bye to is crop tops! They are fun to wear and are a simple way to add a little spice to otherwise bland looks.

When I saw this jersey maxi skirt on the debshops website, I knew I had to have it. Beacuse it has somewhat of a highwaist, I also knew it would be perfect to wear with a crop top. I think that is part of the reason this outfit works ---  there is a good balance of skin. In other words, since  I'm showing a lot of skin with the crop top, it was important that I didn't reveal a lot on the bottom. The look is fun, cute and tasteful all at the same time!

It was also a simple look that gained a lot of attention; one lady literally chased me down in the mall wanting to know where I got my shirt from! I was happy to point her in the direction of deb.

So, what summer trends are you not looking forward to saying bye-bye to yet?

Mermaid in the Middle of Downtown

Dress: Body Central/ Earrings: Body Central/ Bracelets: Body Central / Shoes: Rugged Wearhouse

Who says you need an ocean and a talking lobster named Sebastian to recapture the essences of a mermaid? I succeeded in doing it with this jersey knight hi-low dress, in sea green, matching stud earrings and silver bracelets.

I wore this dress to a late lunch with my family and later shopping with my mom and aunt. I can't tell how you many times I was complimented on it. Well, actually I can. It was something like 845458124253. Okay, so maybe that is a slight exaggeration, but it was still a lot.

This fabulous little frock came from Body Central, as did my earrings (on sale for only 99 cent) and my bracelets.

Sometimes when I go to post looks on the blog, I feel as if they are too simple or need some extra flair, but I've come to realize that often less really is more. Plus, pieces like this dress often speak well for themselves, without extra bling and accessories. What do you think, is it possible to over accessorize?

Classy in Camo

Shirt- C/O: Deb / Jeans- C/O: Deb/ Shoes- C/O: Deb/ Necklace- C/O: Deb / Purse- Kate Spade
My all time favorite quote comes from the oh so stylish Coco Chanel, "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." Despite my commitment to being just that -- classy and fabulous-- I was able to rock two of the grungiest trends of the season: ripped jeans and camo print, without losing an ounce of class.

Since heels are an instant way to add feminine flair to any look, I paired with the distressed denim and camo these fantastic heels and for even more of a girly vibe, this neon stone necklace (all courtesy of deb!). Although I love trying new trends, its always important to me that I stay true to my own personal style. The ripped jeans took me a bit out of my comfort zone, but adding in the touches of pink, along with the heels put me back in my element. My quilted Kate Spade purse was the icing on the cake though, instantly giving the outfit an element of class.

What do you think of this Classy in Camo look?

The Showstopper

Dress: Malloy via TJMaxx/ Shoes: ZooShoo/ Clutch: Victoria Secret via Goodwill/ Ring: OldNavy/ Bracelet: Rue21

Everyday this summer as I drove home from my internship, I would pass by the marquee of the Carolina Theater and I would always think to myself, "I really want to take some pictures there."

The day before I returned to Raleigh for school, I did, wearing a dress that I absolutely love.

The dress is a black ballerina-esque number that I purchased from T.J. Maxx. I love how the leotard -style slims my body and also how the chiffon skirt hangs. It really is a lovely dress.

The dress is a Malloy Los Angles Design. I've got several dresses from this brand (All via TJ Maxx and Marshalls). I would love to find the website for it however, because the dresses are all so flattering and inexpensive and  I want more! I originally wore this dress to a fashion show I covered for my school newspaper back in April. It definitely turned a few heads.

I'll even go as far as to say it was a showstopper. Which is fine with me, because occasionally I like to turn heads and break necks.

I accessorized this look with my (favorite) gold link bracelet from Rue21, snake ring from Old Navy and gold sparkly clutch from Victoria Secret.

What is your favorite showstopping piece of clothing?

Cotton Candy Ice Cream

Top: Macy's / Jeans: Bisou Bisou x JcPenny/ Wedges: Rue21/ Purse: Goodwill/ Bracelet: Rue21/ Necklace: Flea Market

Cotton candy ice cream is not my favorite.

In fact, this may sound silly, but the only reason I ordered cotton candy ice cream is because it matched my outfit.

Judge me.

I walked into Baskin Robbins with my mouth set on a strawberry sugar cone and came very close to ordering it, when the purple and light pink swirled cotton candy ice cream caught my eye instead. Much to my surprise, it actually tasted just as good as it looked with my light pink jeans and white tank.

This look came together as the result of me really wanting to wear my new wedges from Rue21 (can you believe they were only $5!? ). White shoes can be a challenge to style, which is why I took the easy way out and simply paired them with my white tank top. I added the pink pants (really I could have worn any colored pant) because, well, pink is my favorite color. It just so happens that I also had on baby pink nail polish, which again made the pink pants a no-brainer. My statement necklace from the flea market in Hawaii was the perfect accessory, accentuating  the pink color of my pants as well as the gold trim around my shoes.

The look was simple, chic and cute-- which is typically what I aim for in my personal style.

What do you think of this look? Would you ever order ice cream based on whether or not it matched your outfit for the day?
