The Orange Coat

Coat: Plenty by Tracy Reese / Boots: Jessica Simpson  (similar) / Dress: Rue21 (similar)
A slightly better look at my dress
I remember the day I first laid eyes on it. It was a brisk day in October and I had reluctantly followed my mother into Anthroplogie. Hanging in the back corner of the store was this beautiful orange coat with a fur collar and peplum waist, in my size. When I put it on it was as if it was made for me. I told my mother then, "I have to have this coat!" Yesterday morning I woke up to find the beautiful Plenty by Tracy Reese coat waiting for me underneath the Christmas Tree! Unable to resist it, I decided to wear it on Christmas Day. It's such a lovely coat and makes a bold statement.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

Dress:  Goodwill (Similar) \ Necklace: New York &Company (Similar) \ Shoes: JcPenny\ Coat: Guess (Similar)

'Twas the night before Christmas and my mother said to me, "You look like Dorothy Dandridge," when she saw my fabulous "Lucy Curls." For months now I've been following the incredibly talented Chynna (@bigdoesmyhair) on Instagram and lusting over the signature curls she gives her clients. I finally decided to stop by her salon and give "Lucy Curls" a try, and I am in LOVE!

Feeling inspired by my glamorous hair, I came home and put together this Holiday Glam look. The dress was a Goodwill find from this summer. Its a little hard to see the details of it in the pictures (sorry!) but its satin with a bit of a floral design. I also added on my mother's diamond/pearl statement necklace from New York and Company and my metallic silver pumps from JCPenny. Because its so cold I also threw on my mother's textured Guess peacoat. The perfect look for a winter date night or holiday party.  I can't wait to get all dolled up again tomorrow for Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Brilliant Earth Style Challenge

Brilliant Earth
Sweatshirt: Givenchy/ Skirt: Nordstrom/ Bootie: Guess/  Clutch: Alexander McQueen/ Earrings: Brilliant Earth/ Necklace: Brilliant Earth

Diamonds are a girl's best friend, even when decides she wants to be a little edgy. I was recently contacted by Brilliant Earth and asked to participate in its Personality Style Challenge. There were several personality styles to choose from but the one that resonated most with me was "If she likes all things glamorous like stilettos and glitter."

When I started designing my set the first thing I was drawn to was this plaid pencil skirt. Of course, plaid is not necessarily the most glamorous pattern in the world but the pencil skirt shape adds an aspect of vava-voom to it. Sometimes, its the accessories that make an outfit and in this particular instance, it was most definitely the 18K White Gold Pave Eclipse Diamond Earrings and 18K White Gold Pave Diamond Infinity Pendant that brought glam factor to this look!

Besides the fact that it is absolutely stunning,  Brilliant Earth jewelry is that it originates from pure ethical sources and five percent of the money it profits is also donated to communities harmed by the jewelry industry. Don't you think that makes this outfit even better? I do.

All That Glitters

Skirt: JcPenny (old) (similar)/ Shirt: JcPenny/ Tights: c/o Deb/ Booties: c/o Deb

All that glitters was gold in this little ensemble. Amazingly both the skirt and shirt were finds from the clearance rack of JcPenny. The skirt I purchased last year around Christmas for about $5. The shirt I purchased about a week before Thanksgiving for $4. With its gold buttons I knew it would be the perfect match for this skirt. Of course I completed the look with my black booties from Deb and tights. All in all this is a quick look to throw together for a holiday party!

What NOT to Wear to A Christmas Tree Farm

Coat: American Eagle (similar) / Sweater: Gap Outlet (similar)/ Jeans: Gap/ Flats: Rainbow (similar)

You know I how I'm always saying you can never go wrong with animal print? Well, I didn't mean to, but I lied. You can go wrong. Super-duper wrong, especially when you make the mistake of wearing leopard print ballet flats to a Christmas Tree Farm. Trust me, I speak from experience.

On our way back from Tennessee, my family and I made an impromptu stop at the Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm in Waynesville, North Carolina to pick out a tree. Something told me before getting out of the car that I might want to swap my new, cute and dainty leopard ballet flats for my something a little more sturdy, but obviously I chose fashion over functionality...at least temporarily.

Lol, my little sister slipped and fell about five or six times.
I changed into Sperry's when my flats proved to be ALL wrong for the occasion.

After watching everyone in my family fall multiple times, and when my flats became soaking wet because of the snow/ice on the ground, I decided to hightail it back to the car for a more suitable pair of Christmas Tree Farm shoes. My cousin, who had decided she didn't want to partake in the fun, loaned me her Leopard Print Sperry's. They didn't offer much traction on the slippery ground either, but at least my feet weren't wet in them and...they were still pretty fashionable.

The moral of this story:
Cute leopard print flats with an ankle strap are great for taking pictures on the back porch of a cabin, but not so much for trekking through snow and ice to find a Christmas Tree.

A Belk Exclusive: Chip & Pepper Denim

Chip, Me (dressed in Chip & Pepper) and one handsome model!

Southern department store, Belk, recently partnered with famous Canadian designers Chip & Pepper Foster to launch a collection of denim to be sold exclusively at Belk. I was lucky enough to receive a special  invitation to meet the twin brothers and try on pieces from the line during a special media event.

My prior knowledge of Chip & Pepper denim included that it was a good quality jean, extremely popular and that its designers, Chip & Pepper, were the epitome of fun. I arrived at Belk on Saturday to find that everything I thought I knew about Chip & Pepper denim was right!

The jeans came in a variety of great washes-- everything from classic dark and light denim to trendy prints and patterns. The exclusive line also includes cute and comfy tops to compliment the selection of jeans.

Within 15 minutes of arriving at Belk, Chip and Pepper had pulled for me what seemed like a million pieces to try on. Of course, I was tickled pink by this! I loved all the pieces and ended up leaving with two fabulous pair of jeans that I can't wait to style. I really wanted a third pair of the dark wash skinny, but they were sold out in my size. I was also super excited about the fact that my total purchase came to $58! The jeans that are apart of the exclusive Belk line are all priced at less than $100, a major deal since Chip & Pepper denim is hailed with the same regard as brands such as True Religion, Seven, and Lucky.

Chip signing my jeans.
I made sure to have both pairs of my jeans signed by Chip and Pepper before leaving the event. I know that they will be staples in my wardrobe, and hope to add more pairs to my collection soon.

Thanks to Chip, Pepper, and Belk for such a wonderful day!
