Thug Life.

I won't deny it, I'ma straight rida.

You don't wanna mess with me.

So, maybe you'd be a little more apt to believe me if I didn't have such a huge Kool-aid smile planted  on my face. But even then I'm not really sure how successful I'd be in conceiving someone of my thug mentality.

WHOMP.

Not tough however, is believing that my girl Rhi Rhi walks a little on the wild side.

While Rihanna can get away with American Flag cut off shorts, suspender tights, a fur jacket, and stiletto boots, this girl can't. And I'm not at all afraid to admit it. Which would explain why when I (Kierra, the biggest scaredy cat) set out to put together a wild Rhianna inspired look, I did my best to "stay in my lane" and create something that was a combination of both styles--mine and hers.

I instead stuck with what was comfortable to me which consisted of my black Forever21 blazer, a white tee, my favorite leopard print scarf from The Limited, cut off shorts, black tights (that did not intially have a run in them), Steve Madden boots, and ancient Forever21 earrings that have been hiding out in my jewelry box for at least 2 years now. I've been wanting to try the whole, tights with denim shorts look for a while, so on a whim I went for it.

I guess this was the same type of whim that possessed Rihanna to get "Thug Life" tattooed on her knuckles. Now, normally I'm down with Rih and I've always found her style to be impeccable. But, the "Thug Life" tattoo, I just can't get down with it. However, I've always been told " Don't knock it until you try it." Sooo...I tried it. My little cousin tatted me up with a Sharpie Marker. And while I thought perhaps my "new ink" might make me feel invincible or up my street cred...it did neither.  Just goes to show that everything is not for everybody. Thug Life may be Rihann's new motto, but it's not mine. I think I'll instead stick with my old faithful-

"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous."

I'd Rather Go Blind....

Rain rain, go away, come again some other day-- this is exactly how I felt for the majority of the weekend. Even though its not raining in my pictures this weekend North Carolina was home to grey skies and freezing cold weather. For this reason, I spent most of my weekend cuddled up underneath my blankets watching movies and doing homework.

Columbiana, Cadillac Records and the Lifetime Movie Untouchable: The Drew Peterson Story, were my weekend picks. Out of the three Cadillac Records was by far my favorite.,(plus I'd already seen Columbiana one time before.) The characters in the movie were so dynamic, especially the late Etta James who was played by new mom Beyonce Knowles and Little Walter played by the handsome Columbus Short.  *Starts singing "My babe don't take no cheating...no my babe!*

Anyways....Sunday I finally climbed out of my Hello Kitty Pajamas and into some real clothes. Red Jeans from Ross, a super cute and stretchy denim button down I picked up on sale at Express, my Steve Madden boots, and the perfect remedy for a bad hair day-- my knit hat from Forever21.

This weekend was fun (and most importantly relaxing!) while it lasted, but it's back to the fast life in the morning. I got dreams to make come true son!

P.S. It's only fitting that I add this video. RIP to the legendary Ms. Etta James.

You a Bad Girl and Your Friends Bad Too.

While it's undeniable that Beyonce is a bad girl and her friend Kelly Rowland is too, let it be known, that  they're not the only ones dripping Swagu. Because, in case you didn't know, I'm a bad girl and my best friend A'storia is a bad girl too.

So, Saturday night in preparation for the New Year, I stockpiled up on some Swagu, and stepped out on the town with my bestie. What can I say, #weliketoParty!

Ok, so who am I kidding? I'm definitely not the World's biggest Party Animal, but every now and then I like to get all dolled up in a pretty dress and strut my stuff. Which, is exactly what I did Saturday night December 31, 2011.

The last 365 days of my life were filled with some major accomplishments, a little sadness surrounding the unexpected death of a friend, and a year in which I was placed in some difficult situations that ultimately made me a stronger, wiser, and better person. All in all, I think 2011 deserved from me a heartfelt goodbye and 2012 was deserving of a smashing grand entrance!

To ring the NewYear in right, I splurged on this Herve Leger inspired multi color dress from Express. Although I really liked this dress, I can't lie-- I really wanted to dazzle in a sequined mini but I had a strong inclination that a lot of other girls would be wanting to do the same.
Therefore I stuck with this baby, and if I do say so myself, it was a knock out! I think this dress was also fitting for the night given that one of the top designer brands of the year was Herve Leger.

Christinia Milian, Kelly Rowland, and Victoria Beckham are just a few of the celebs spotted out in these figure flattering dresses in 2011. And though my dress was barely even a fraction of what one of the infamous bandage dresses cost....

...I still think it looked just as good!

                                                                     That said,

                                 Happy New Years!

From One Bad Girl and her Friend, to another!
