Dear February,

Sweatshirt: c/o Deb / Skirt: c/o Deb / Shoes: c/o Deb/ Purse: c/o Deb / Beanie: Charlotte Russe
 Dear February,
I may not have a Valentine, but I can already tell that we are going to be good friends. You've come along and thus far allowed me to take time out to actually fix up and be cute. January had me in a bit of a choke hold, and even worse, a daily uniform of baseball caps and leggings. We all know nothing about baseball caps and leggings is very sophisticated. February, I appreciate you for allowing me to tap back into my sophisticated side on Saturday with this little ensemble. My L.O.V.E. sweatshirt from Deb, paired with a comfy black skirt, killer cheetah print lace up booties, a cute quilted bag (all from Deb) and a gold studded beanie. The perfect outfit for a day of shopping and maybe a trip to the nail salon. February, you were already my favorite because when you come around so do Reese's Peanut butter hearts, but now that you've helped me get my sophistication back, I love you even more. Thanks for being the best.

P.S. -  Congratulations to the winner of my Sammydress.com giveaway, I hope you L.O.V.E. your prize!

Heels in the Outfield

Skirt: Forver21/ Sweater: c/o Deb/ Blazer: Thrifted/ Shoes: c/o Deb/ Clutch: Charlotte Russe/ Tights: Gap/ Necklace: Rue21 (similar)

Let me start out by saying I would never really wear heels and a short skirt to a baseball game. In fact, an outfit like this would be appropriate for a trip to your favorite restaurant, a  slightly casual dinner/ holiday party or, if you're just fabulous, a day of shopping.

I pulled together a mix of  super old and new items from my closet to make this look work. The entire outfit is styled around the baby pink skater skirt from Forever21. It was a steal at only $15.80 and can be styled in many different ways. Originally sticking to a neutral color palette I threw on my brown tights from Gap, nude ankle strap pumps from deb along with this chunky tan sweater. The babule necklace is one that  I have for nearly four years now and was on super sale at Rue21. To add a little depth to the outfit I put on my suede cranberry blazer and my look was complete.

What do you think?

Sunday-Go-To-Meeting Clothes

Shirt: Forever 21 (Similar) / Skirt: Thrifted (Similar)/ Belt: Express (Similar) / Shoes: c/o Deb/ Clutch: Charlotte Russe (Similar)

If you've never heard the term "Sunday-Go-To-Meeting Clothes" you're probably not from the South. Sunday-Go-To-Meeting Clothes are the sharpest items you have in your closet, that are reserved for special occasions (Sunday Morning Church Service, a Date, Funeral or Wedding) and when you want to make a good impression. I pulled out my Sunday's best yesterday for Church and a lunch date with my little sister.

Though I think it is important to wear modest dress to church, I don't think style should be omitted from the equation. Alone both my thrifted houndstooth skirt and floral printed blouse make for modest separates, but put together they created a noticeably stylish pair. My sparkly pink belt proved to be the perfect accent and my caged heels from Deb were also a good accessory for this particular look.

Also, I typically am hesitant to mix prints but the cohesion that existed between this shirt and skirt was undeniable. It was ultra feminine and I felt very much like a Southern Belle should when she gets all dolled up in her Sunday-Go-To-Meeting Clothes!

Sunny Delight

There's nothing I like more than stepping out into the morning sun and letting the rays of light bring warmth to my skin. Not typically what one would assign as a summer outfit, I put together this bright combination on a whim.

I've noticed this (new?) trend of tucking one side of the shirt in and leaving the other un-tucked. Because this shirt falls at such an awkward length, I decided to give the trend a whirl. My mother was not a fan but I liked the quirkiness of it.

I also loved the richness of the orange hue against my skin. My necklace also warmed the outfit up some as well.

So, what's your take on this half in, half out shirt tail trend...is it chic or just plain old wacky?

Shirt: H&M - $24.99
Shorts: Charlotte Russe - $5.00
Shoes: Ivy & Leo- $19.99
Necklace: Rue21- $2.00

Because I'm a Lady. That's Why.

My mama always said, "There's three things a girl should know: How to act like a lady, think like a man, and work like a dog."

...Okay, so maybe my mama didn't say this, but I'm sure at some point in her life she's ran across or maybe even heard the quote. And while this may not be my mother's exact mantra, that fact hasn't prevented her from raising two little ladies of her own :) .

Originally I was going to continue posting about my trip to NYC and about Teen Vogue Fashion U, but after I put together this cute little outfit on a whim Tuesday morning, I couldn't resist sharing it with you guys. Probably the most dreaded class for all college students, I had a speech to give in my Public Speaking class on Tuesday and I need an outfit that was polished and well put together, but not stuffy.

This dress was just one of the goodies that I picked up in NYC at the H&M shopping event. I love the color and on the material was perfect for the bipolar North Carolina weather that we are currently experiencing. I paired it with fish net tights that my little sister gave me for Christmas last year and my favorite cognac brown  boots from Charlotte Russe. I absolutely loved this look. Something about just made me feel ultra feminine and extra cute.
